There’s a hole in your bag… | The “perforation” trend

sac perforation tendance

perforated bag trend

Perforations, mesh, lace… this trend has been out there for a couple of years now but it reappears most specifically every spring/summer. And this year is no exception! Magazines, it-girls, stores… you can find perforated/transparent clothes or accessories E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E you look. Want my opinion? It is way easier to adopt this trend with a handbag than opting for a transparent/perforated t-shirt… (at least you will be able to wear it at work!).

What I like…

– Get one accessory in this trend and you’re sure to add a feminine touch to your outfit without overdoing it. No need for a super girly color or flower pattern (hello clichés… but you see what I mean). Pick a bag with a neutral shape and a color (like the totes in the pictures at the beginning of the article) but pick one with a bit of perforated details on it. And voilà!

– There are so many different ones that you’re sure to find THE bag that you’ll like. You’re looking for a perforated bag but you don’t want everybody to be able to see what’s inside? Pick one with a lining behind the perforations. You want a completely open look? There are plenty of options out there too…

– Yes, that’s a trend. And trends come and go… But don’t worry, it’s been out there for a few years now and doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere. Also, if you want to be a la mode, it is much easier to adopt this trend than the fringe one if you want my opinion…

Be careful…

– This is a very summery trend. I find it a bit hard to wear that type of perforated bag during fall or winter with the snow or the rain… Just not the right feeling! And not very practical… So I would advice not to spend a lot of money on this. Look for a cheaper option or check the sales. And the timing is perfect as a lot of brand are doing sales right now!

Some options

Aldo tote – $60: the perfect shape for everyday, perforated details on the front (but with a lining so your treasures stay hidden) and a detachable shoulder strap for those days when you just don’t fell like it! A great option at a reasonable price!

Elizabeth and James Large tote – $445: here is an option for the daring ladies out there. The look is amazing but you have to be willing to share what’s inside your bag with the entire world… Good point though: they include a small zipped pocket so at least you can still hide your most precious items…

Kate Spade tote – $174: this one is the best of both worlds (or at least a good compromise between the two other options). The price is not too high (especially on sale) but you still get real leather. It is open like the Elizabeth and James bag but you have a lining as with the Aldo one…

So, tell me, what do you think about this trend? Yay or nay?
