Portland, OR: the International Rose Test Garden

Portland, Oregon visit the International Rose Test Garden

Writing this blog post and thinking about the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Pink October made me want to share with you an amazing place I discovered this summer: Portland’s International Rose Test Garden.

It’s free and open to everybody. Small warning: it can be a bit hard to find a parking spot.

Once you arrive in the garden, you’re surrounded by more than 500 varieties of roses from all over the world. It’s amazing!

The garden is big (I mean, there are more than 7000 rose plants in there!) but not too big either. The perfect size if you ask me. ¬†Much smaller and quicker to go through than the Oregon Garden but still big enough than it doesn’t feel too crowded (even with a lot of people visiting). The perfect day trip if you live near Portland, OR!

The Rose Garden is located in Washington Park so it is super close to Portland. You can spot the city from some parts of the garden but you really don’t feel like it. As you can see on some pictures, you’re completely surrounded by the forest. It is like a hidden peaceful spot between the trees.

If you’re in Portland, OR or are planning a trip here, I strongly recommend you to include this Rose Garden in your list of things to do. Maybe not in winter obviously but anytime from April to October is said to be amazing. I’m sure you will not regret spending some time there!
