The story

This Danier tote bag is a Christmas gift that Catherine received almost two years ago now. She was in her last year of college and wanted a more professional-looking bag. Nobody wants to start working with a very student-looking bag… She had two criteria: the look (had to be professional) and the material (she wanted a leather bag so she can keep it for years). She made a list, gave her to her family and discovered this Danier tote bag under the Christmas tree… Here she was, ready for the working world!

What I like

– The size and the shape. The bag is big enough to carry all the things you need but not too big (so you don’t look like you’re carrying your weekend bag all week with you). The structure is rigid so the bag keeps its shape and its professional look whatever you put in it in any occasion.

The “pro” look… Minimalist, without any bling detail… perfect for the work place! And some small details like the interior padded pocket (ideal for a small laptop or an iPad) are just well thought of.

– The crossbody strap. A classic but always useful when you travel and needs your hands free!

What I don’t like

The only detail that Catherine doesn’t like about this bag is the fact that there is no exterior pocket. At all. It would have been useful to put her keys or cell phone and have easy access to them. A small detail that would have changed a lot…

Recommendation

I think it’s clear that Catherine loves her Danier tote bag. It has all the things she was looking for and not a lot of cons. Practical everyday, it’s her favorite bag to go to work. Speaking of it… Because of the size and the shape of the bag, Catherine only recommends it for work. It’s too big for a night out and too structured for a casual weekend… The only other place where you could use it is for school. An elegant alternative to a big backpack…
Regarding the brand, Catherine is happy with the Danier quality. No scratches or damages over the years. That being said, Danier just went into liquidation and closed their stores earlier this year. No need to panic, a lot of other brands offers the same kind of work tote… My favorite one? Kate Spade New York 🙂
